This course, in its 20th edition this year, offers Italian language instruction at all levels, from beginners to advanced. Teaching is continually updated and adapted to participants through “customized” activities and personalized exercises.

Cultural activities will complete Italian instruction: together with teachers and young tutors, participants will interact in Italian and discover Piedmont’s art, culture and traditions.

Learning Italian will therefore be an involving and pleasant experience, shared with friends from all over the world.

Course Description

- Total hours of Italian language instruction: 60 hours

- Cultural activities: 30 hours

Overview of the course

Overview of the course: customized lessons, fully taught in Italian by native-speaking teachers specialized in teaching Italian as a foreign language. Classes will focus on communication and will be held in small groups (12-15 students). Integrated development of the four skills, up-to-date methods, continuous deep correlation with Italian life and culture will be part of the program.

- Students will be placed in the appropriate level group: pre-intermediate (A1/A2), intermediate (B1/B2) and advanced-intermediate (B2).

- Varied teaching material, specially prepared by the teachers, are included in the enrolment fee. You will also have access to multimedia material and to a language laboratory.

- Attendance certificate will be given to students attending at least 75% of the lessons.

Timetable

Lessons will take place in CLA-UNITO (Language Lab of the University of Turin) (Via Sant’Ottavio, 20 - 10124 Torino), from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
CLA’s labs will remain open in the afternoon for self-learning activities. The schedule of cultural activities will be announced on the first day of the course.

Our activities

  • In the morning (9 a.m.-1 p.m.):

  • - Italian classes in small groups
    - Seminars on special topics and focused activities

  • In the afternoon (3-6 p.m.):

  • - Language exercises under the guidance of tutors in collaboration with the teachers of the course
    - Exercises language - Multimedia Course of Italian language
    - Conversation in small groups by appointment
    - Vision of documentaries and films about Italian culture
    - Sports activities in collaboration with the City of Turin - Servizio Centrale Attività Internazionali e Gioventù - Settore Comunicazione Internazionale
    - Cultural activities, guided tours and leisure activities
    - Outings.

  • In the evening:

  • The summer in Turin offers a varied program of music, film, theater, dance...


General Conditions

  • Registration limit: 2 weeks before the start of the Summer School.


  • Participants must be at least 18 years old.


  • Participants need not be university students.


  • ERASMUS students, PhD students, researchers and scholarship holders at the University of Turin will be granted 10% reduction on admission fee.


  • Enrolment in Italian language course is compulsory in order to enter the cultural program.


  • Participants should hold health insurance policies or the European Health Insurance card.


  • A minimum of 12 students is required to start the course.


  • Students are admitted to the course according to their enrolment order. If no places are available, students wishing to join the course will enter a waiting list drawn by the secretary.


  • If there are no places left or the seminar is cancelled, the admission fee will be refunded.


  • Payment cannot be refunded in case of withdrawal after the start of the course.


  • Italian knowledge required for the conversation course: B1 (intermediate). Please check the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

3) Send the filled in Application Form along with the following documents:
- Copy of the identity card
- Copy of the payment receipt

These documents have to be sent by e-mail (italianoperstranieri@unito.it) or fax (+39 011 670 2033).

4) After that, participants will receive a letter of admission to the course.

5) When registration is over, participants will receive instructions to reach the courses location easily.


Accommodation

On request, you can book accommodation in EDISU residence halls with a financial supplement to be due on arrival to the hall of residence.
