The linguistic charm of “bel canto”: learn Italian through music and words.

Music and words to learn Italian: an intensive Italian language course combined with the concerts of “MITO SettembreMusica”.

The Italian courses are held in the morning in small groups, according to level (12-15 students).

In the afternoon you can focus on specific aspects related to music, choosing from many activities: seminars to improve your pronunciation with the same exercises used by professional opera singers, visit Turin’s key music locations (theaters, auditoriums, conservatory) and meet the protagonists of the Italian and international music scene.

As an alternative to cultural activities in the afternoon, participants can opt for personalized language exercises in language labs, with the support of young tutors.

In the evening they can attend the “MITO SettembreMusica” concerts, the music event that has been brightening up the city and attracting internationally renowned artists for 30 years.

Course Description

- Total hours of Italian language instruction: 60 hours

- Cultural activities: 30 hours

- Students enrolled at any university in the world € 600,00

- A selection of tickets for "MITO SettembreMusica" concerts (on request, depending on the availability)

Program fees do not include accommodation or meals.

Overview of the course

- Overview of the course: customized lessons, fully taught in Italian by native-speaking teachers specialized in teaching Italian as a foreign language. Classes will focus on communication and will be held in small groups (12-15 students). Integrated development of the four skills, up-to-date methods, continuous deep correlation with Italian life and culture will be part of the program.

- Students will be placed in the appropriate level group: pre-intermediate (A1/A2), intermediate (B1/B2) and advanced-intermediate (B2).

- Varied teaching materials, specially prepared by the teachers, is included in the enrolment fee and will be available to all students. Students will also be able to access to multimedia material and to a language laboratory.

- Attendance certificate will be given to students attending at least 75% of the lessons.


Lessons will take place in CLA-UNITO (Language Lab of the University of Turin) (Via Sant’Ottavio, 20 - 10124 Torino), from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
CLA’s labs will remain open in the afternoon for self-learning activities. The schedule of cultural activities will be announced on the first day of the course.

Our activities

  • In the morning (9 a.m.-1 p.m.):

  • - Italian classes in small groups
    - Seminars on special topics and focused activities

  • In the afternoon (3-6 p.m.):

  • - Self-learning activities
    - Cultural activities, guided tours and leisure activities

  • In the evening:

  • - concerts of "MITO SettembreMusica".

General Conditions

  • Registration limit: 2 weeks before the start of the Summer School.

  • Participants must be at least 18 years old.

  • Participants need not be university students.

  • ERASMUS students, PhD students, researchers and scholarship holders at the University of Turin will be granted 10% reduction on admission fee.

  • Enrolment in Italian language course is compulsory in order to enter the cultural program.

  • Participants should hold health insurance policies or the European Health Insurance card.

  • A minimum of 12 students is required to start the course.

  • Students are admitted to the course according to their enrolment order. If no places are available, students wishing to join the course will enter a waiting list drawn by the secretary.

  • If there are no places left or the seminar is cancelled, the admission fee will be refunded.

  • Payment cannot be refunded in case of withdrawal after the start of the course.

  • Each participant will receive a minimum of 5 tickets for "MITO SettembreMusica" event. Tickets will be distributed by the administration according to availability.

3) Send the filled in Application Form along with the following documents:
- Copy of the identity card
- Copy of the payment receipt

4) After that, participants will receive a letter of admission to the course.

5) When registration is over, participants will receive instructions to reach the courses location easily.


On request, you can book accommodation in EDISU residence halls with a financial supplement to be due on arrival to the hall of residence.
